Cycle Planners Want to Roll Shamrock Bikeway Project Forward

City of Boise officials are being asked to hop aboard a definitive plan to create a north-south bicycle route from Emerald Avenue to the Hewlett-Packard campus (approximately 3 miles) , to be known as the Shamrock Bikeway.

In February, the city reached out to the Ada County Highway District to "share Boise's visions for the bikeway."

Securing neighborhood input from an Oct. 25 public open house, ACHD came back with two alternatives: one costing $558,000 using existing streets and another costing $591,000 crafting a more direct route. The second alternative garnered the highest support from the public outreach and is also the plan of choice from ACHD's Bicycle Advisory Committee.

After input from the Boise City Council at its Wednesday, Dec. 18, meeting, ACHD staff is expected to seek direction from ACHD commissioners in early 2013.
