Pfizer to Pay Idaho $732,000 in Settlement

Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer has agreed to pay the State of Idaho $732,000 and has agreed to not make deceptive claims about the efficacy or safety of Zyvox, an antibacterial agent used to treat certain types of infections.

Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden and 32 other attorneys general had alleged that Pfizer made unsubstantiated superiority claims regarding Zyvox and promoted the drug for off-label uses.

Today's settlement with Idaho is part of nationwide agreement, in which Pfizer will pay $42.9 million to 33 states, but admitted to no wrongdoing.
