Idaho Inmate Found Dead in State Prison Cell

The Idaho Department of Correction is investigating the apparent suicide of an inmate at the Idaho State Correctional Institution.

IDOC officials report that 55-year-old Calvin Dwight was found hanging in his cell Tuesday afternoon. ISCI medical staff attempted to resuscitate Dwight but the inmate was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Dwight, a Canyon County resident, was sentenced to three-and-a-half to seven years behind bars for possession of a controlled substance.

The Ada County Sheriff's Office has been called in to assist the investigation into Dwight's death.
