Cougar Spotted in Columbia Village Sunday Night

The latest sighting of a mountain lion in the Boise area was called in to Ada County Dispatch Sunday night by a resident of Columbia Village, who said the cougar was spotted near a soccer field near Lake Forest Drive and South Kalmia Place.

Wildlife officials recently removed snares from the shores of the Boise River west of Glenwood Street after they determined that the cat was no longer near that stretch of the Boise River.

Last week, Foothill residents near Fort Boise and northwest of Bogus Basin Road reported cougar sightings in their neighborhoods.

In October, a spokesman for the USDA Wildlife Service said the agency was pretty certain that a mountain lion attacked a pet near East Eddy Place in Garden City.

Since late summer, mountain lion sightings have been reported near ParkCenter Boulevard, Warm Springs Avenue, Veterans Memorial Parkway and the Glenwood Bridge near the Boise Greenbelt.
