Things Getting Hairy for Dems: Axelrod Wagers Mustache in Election Outcome

Uber-Democratic political operative David Axelrod will have more than his reputation at stake on Election Night. His mustache is on the line.

Axelrod, senior adviser to Barack Obama's presidential campaign, told a national television audience this morning that he'll shave off his 'stache (which he has sported for 40 years) on national TV if Obama loses Minnesota, Michigan or Pennsylvania.

“I will come on Morning Joe (MSNBC's morning gabfest) and I will shave off my mustache of 40 years if we lose any of those three states,” Axelrod said.

Axelrod also challenged host Joe Scarborough (a former GOP Florida congressman) to grow a mustache if Obama won any of those states, a wager Morning Joe rejected. Instead, Scarborough said he would grow a mustache if Obama won either North Carolina or Florida. Axelrod agreed.
