Two Democratic candidates, running for the Statehouse in Boise's District 15, pushed back today against what they called "a false mailer" from anti-abortion activist group Idaho Chooses Life.
Senate candidate Betty Richardson and Steve Berch, running for House Seat 15B [both in district 15] said a postcard from Idaho Chooses Life falsely accused them of supporting "abortion on demand" and "unlimited abortion at taxpayer expense."
Calling the mailer "dishonest and shameless" Richardson said she had "never taken such positions and I never will."
Berch called the postcard "a blatantly false, embarrassing political hatchet job that reflects poorly on my opponent Mark Patterson."
Berch also took Patterson to task for avoiding any public candidate forums where the two challengers could be heard side-by-side.
Richardson called on her opponent, Republican Fred Martin, to disavow the mailer.
"My opponent should reject the support of an organization that would resort to such despicable tactics and I call upon him to do so," she said.
