Boise-based Boise Inc. announced it will cut some production in an effort to reduce costs.
The paper and packaging product manufacturer announced last week it will cease production on its only paper machine at the company's St. Helens, Ore., paper mill.
That will shrink Boise Inc.'s annual uncoated freesheet capacity by about 60,000 tons and result in 100 fewer workers. A press release from the company said production on the machine will cease by Dec. 31, and that eligible employees will receive severance packages.
As of this morning, shares of Boise Inc. were down almost 3 percent, at $8.63.
