Kellen Moore One Step Closer to Boise State/NFL History

The fate of a rookie in the National Football League is as tentative as a text message.

Friday night, while attending the Boise State-Michigan State football game in East Lansing, Mich., former Bronco superstar quarterback Kellen Moore received a text that he had survived the latest cut by the Detroit Lions, cutting its roster from 75 to 53. But nothing is certain just yet. The Lions may make some last-minute additions and cuts, leading up to their Sept. 9 home opener against the St. Louis Rams.

"There are different ways of making a career and my goal is to be one of those success stories," Moore told Boise Weekly. "It gets better each day. The first time you run a certain play, you're a bit tentative. Then you get comfortable and your timing gets better and your confidence builds."

If Moore survives to take a snap after Sept. 9, he would become the first Boise State quarterback to play in an NFL regular-season game.
