With the Trinity Ridge blaze nearly 25 percent contained, approximately 1,200 firefighting personnel are spending their Labor Day weekend trying to keep the massive fire from scorching any more of Elmore County.
Cooler temperatures and cloud cover aided firefighters Friday by keeping fire activity moderate. A spot fire north of the North Fork of the Boise River is approximately 50 acres and 80 percent contained. Meanwhile, fire line construction began Friday from Thorn Creek Butte to Rabbit Creek Summit in preparation for possible burnout operations.
The primary fire continues to burn near Green Creek, and officials said they've made good progress in being able to hold and secure areas around Featherville and Pine.
The Elmore County sheriff's evacuation order continues for the area from Featherville to Paradise.
To date, 12 injuries have been reported, and the Trinity Ridge Fire has cost more than $28.7 million.
