Boise, Meridian Police Charge 10 Businesses In Alcohol Compliance Checks


Boise and Meridian Police officers, using five underage decoys, handed out 11 citations to 10 businesses on Aug. 24 for providing alcohol to minors.

The sweep of more than 80 Treasure Valley retail establishments coincides with the beginning of a new school year, checking to see if retailers and their employees are regularly checking ID when selling alcohol.

Overall, 11 different retail establishments were cited for providing alcohol to a minor. Police said a number of establishments didn't even ask for identification.

Those who failed include:
-Albertsons at Gary Lane-State Street
-Applebee's at Gary Lane-State Street
-Jacksons at Emerald Avenue-Garden Street
-Tobacco Connection at Cassia Street-Vista Avenue
-Gem Stop Chevron on Chinden Boulevard
-Stinker at Broadway Avenue-Howe Street
-Jacksons at Cherry Lane-Vista Avenue
-Fred Meyer at Federal Way-Findley Avenue
-Maverick Station at 5200 Chinden Boulevard
-Walgreens at Ten Mile Road-Cherry Lane

Boise Police report that for some of the Boise establishments, this was a second violation in a year for selling alcohol to a minor.
