A Canyon County judge will face the business end of a bench, and she won't be wielding a gavel when she answers to a drunken-driving charge.
Renae Hoff, 61, an Idaho 3rd District magistrate, was busted by Meridian Police early Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence. Her previous records included only minor traffic violations and no prior DUIs.
Meridian law enforcement pulled Hoff over near Ten Mile Road and Acarrera Court for failing to maintain her traffic lane. Additionally, police said they could smell alcohol and the judge failed a field sobriety test. Meridian Police said their policy keeps them from releasing specific breathalyzer test results.
Hoff was booked on a misdemeanor offense of DUI and released.
Hoff was appointed to the bench in 1990 and also serves on Canyon County's Mental Health Court.
