Ada County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Andrea Dearden says the body of an adult male was recovered from the New York Canal this morning and taken to the Ada County Coroner's Office for further investigation. The body appeared to have been in the water for some time.
Regional law enforcement agencies have been contacted to determine if the body recovered from the canal could be connected to any ongoing investigations in other jurisdictions.

The Ada County Sheriff's Dive Team has been dispatched to the New York Canal in South Ada County after the discovery of a body in the water.
Canal workers called Ada County dispatchers shortly after 8 a.m., when they spotted a body in the water south of Cloverdale Road. Detectives say it appears to have been in the water for an extended period of time, making a preliminary identification impossible.
