Meridian School Counselor Charged With Sex Crimes


Mark Saltzer faces 10 charges of sexual exploitation of a child.

A federal investigation has landed a Meridian school counselor behind bars, facing 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

Mark Saltzer, 45, faces arraignment Monday, Aug. 20, in 4th District Court in Boise.

Not much is known about the investigation other than that it was led by federal investigators, but officials with the Meridian School District have confirmed that Saltzer is on administrative leave. He is identified as a sixth-grade counselor at a Meridian middle school.

Sentencing for sexual exploitation of a child can lead to a prison term of 10-30 years and fines as high as $50,000.
