With more than 1,000 vehicles intersecting at the corner of Eagle and Amity roads during the height of rush hour, traffic planners are expecting more than a few confused or frustrated motorists when the intersection is shut down for the better part of a month, beginning Sunday, Aug. 19.
The Ada County Highway District has been working on turning the four-way stop into a roundabout, and to date, construction has occurred outside of the roadway with shoulder work and irrigation improvements. But now, it's time for crews to construct the one-lane roundabout. (Planners are hoping to have the option of expanding the roundabout into two lanes in the future.)
The project is expected to wrap up Sunday, Sept. 16, and has a price tag of $700,000.
