A blaze that began on Highway 16 south of Emmett ignited a 900-acre brush fire July 28.
Officials from the Bureau of Land Management said high temperatures and windy conditions contributed to the growth of the blaze, which quickly consumed nearby brush. Highway 16 was closed while fire crews battled the blaze.
Aircraft, brush rigs, tankers and 150 personnel were called in to fight the fire.
Ada County Sheriff's dispatchers also issued automated calls to 515 residents Saturday, in the area of Highway 16 and Beacon Light, north to Chaparral and east to Eagle Road, according to ACSO spokeswoman Andrea Dearden. While not an evacuation order, those calls were meant to prepare residents if evacuations were necessary.
Crews expect to have total control of the fire by 8 p.m. today.
