Idaho Adult Day Care Center Cited For Exposing Workers to Violence

An eastern Idaho group home operator has been slapped with a fine following a federal investigation into violence against the facility's employees.

The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited South Park, Inc., operating as Developmental Options in Pocatello, for what the feds called repeated violent behavior, aggressive physical contact and attacks by a patient in the residential habilitation program.

The facility was cited for a serious violation, meaning that there was "substantial probability that death or serious physical harm could result from a hazard about which the employer knew or should have known." The citation, which carries a proposed penalty of $4,900, followed a January inspection of the adult care center.
