Press-Tribune: Cash Mobs Hit Nampa

In its grass-roots effort to stimulate local businesses, the Nampa Chamber of Commerce has begun performing what it calls "cash mobs." Not unlike a flash mob, a cash mob results when participants unexpectedly show up, en masse, at a business and put their money where their mob is.

According to this morning's Idaho Press-Tribune, a cash mob stormed the Stone Lumber Company in Nampa on Tuesday, with each individual committing to spend at least $10 at the hardware and building materials store.

A spokesman for the Nampa chamber expects to hit a number of local businesses, but promises to limit the mob to a number that the company can handle at a given time.
