McGee Ends Up in Ada County Jail ... Again

John McGee turned himself in to Ada County Jail on June 15 and promptly bonded out.

John McGee has a new mug shot.

The former Caldwell Republican State Senator turned himself in to the Ada county Jail Tuesday at 6:32 p.m. but posted bond and was released.

A $1,000 bond was required for each of two charges that were filed against McGee, disturbing the peace and violating his DUI probation by committing a new criminal offense. The arrest warrant from Ada County prosectutors alleges that McGee "disturbed the peace" by using "profane and offensive language and/or conduct in the presence of a state employee."

McGee resigned from the Idaho Legislature in February, following sexual misconduct allegations involving a female Senate attache. That incident came less than a year after a bizarre Father's Day 2011 event, when McGee admitted to drinking too much, taking a stranger's vehicle and crashing the SUV onto the front lawn of a residence. McGee was sentenced to probation for the incident, but because that probation was still in effect, the former lawmaker now faces an extra charge of probation violation.

The incident involving the state employee was investigated by the Idaho State Police and handed over to Ada County prosecutors, who filed the new charges.
