Newspaper Files Motion To Quash Idaho GOP Leader's Suit to Out Commenters

Spokesman Review pushes back against Tina Jacobson, chair of the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee

The Spokane Spokesman-Review has decided to fight back against against a north Idaho Republican leader in her effort to reveal the identities of three anonymous commenters on the Spokesman-Review's website.

Tina Jacobson, the chair of the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee filed suit last week in the wake of a few unkind remarks about her on the Huckleberries blog of the S-R. On Feb. 14, a commenter, going by the identity of "almostinnocentbystander," stated that there was $10,000 missing from the Republican Central Committee funds and that the missing funds were hidden on the person of Jacobson. Two more commenters, under the identities of "phaedrus" and "outofstater" supported the claim. But the GOP leader vehemently denounced the comments and asked that the identities of the three be made public.

But on Monday, the S-R, through attorney Duane Swinton of Witherspoon-Kelley, filed a motion to quash Jacobson's suit.
