BW Preview: The Great Recession


There's an endless parade of economic indicators regularly telling us that either our economy is recovering or that the Great Recession of the 21st century is anything but over. Surging unemployment and downward spiraling property values have hit the Boise metro area especially hard, and with an economy that was built mostly on housing construction, a new book offers a cautionary warning that the damage is long-term.

In Wednesday's BW, we visit with the authors of Down and Out in Ada County, Coping With the Great Recession, who maintain that while we were continuously building new housing only a decade ago, we were also building an unsustainable foundation.
