Wavii, the latest of countless news aggregators for your smartphone, promises to customize your news feed based on your Facebook profile. The BBC reported that the aggregator is likely to compete with Facebook's news feed, prompting early speculation that it could become a target for a Facebook buyout.
The Seattle-based technology processes up to 1,000 articles per minute and can detect rumors and story duplicates, but according to technical adviser Jim Pitkow, "Wavii gets rid of the fluff of the Internet."
The app got mixed reviews from techies, who compared it to similar and successful apps such as Flipboard or StumbleUpon. PC Magazine editors gave Wavii's first version two-and-a-half stars, or a "fair" score.
