McGeachin Steps Away From Idaho House

Another high profile Idaho lawmaker is stepping away from the legislature.

Idaho Falls Republican Rep. Janice McGeachin announced Friday that she won't be running for a fifth term in the Idaho House. McGeachin is currently the chair of the House Health and Welfare Committee and is a member of the House State Affairs Committee.

McGeachin and her husband own and operate three automotive busineses: Western Transmission, Idaho Transmission Warehouse and High Torque.

"When we were faced with the certainty of the need to reduce funding in our Medicaid program, it was critical to me that we do all we could to protect our most vulnerable citizens, the poor, elderly, and disabled," said McGeachin on Friday. "Through a collaborative effort, we were able to spread the reductions across all programs, sparing elimination of whole programs. We are also well under way to a better delivery of care system designed to improve the health and well being of our citizens."
