While the nation's unemployment rate improved in July, jobless figures remained stagnant in Idaho. The Idaho Department of Labor reported a 9.4 percent unemployment rate for July, matching the same rate for July 2010.
Just over 2,600 workers left Idaho's workforce, leaving approximately 690,100 with a job. It was the 14th straight month that more than 70,000 Idahoans could not find jobs. Thousands more have given up looking.
The Treasure Valley unemployment rate was 9.3 percent, but Canyon County registered a 12 percent jobless rate. Across the state, 19 primarily rural counties posted double-digit unemployment in July.
