Recycling Operation Almost Set to Begin Accepting Glass

Recycling glass in Boise, an idea proposed for nearly a decade, is now only days away. Officials with Boise's Public Works Department confirmed for Citydesk that in the next week or two, Allied Waste will begin transporting recycling bottles from nearly a dozen sites where citizens have been droping off their empties for years. Up until now, those bottles were dumped at a little-known facility south of the city.

But all of that is about to change as the city introduces its first voluntary curbside glass recycling service (additionally, citizens will still be able to take their bottles to the public sites). The glass will now be hauled to a new site on the east side of the Boise airport, where Environmental Abrasives will turn the glass into recyclable material.
