Idaho Republicans to Hold Straw Poll Before Super Tuesday

The Idaho Republican Party is poised to be a player in the 2012 run for the White House. This past weekend, the Gem State GOP Central Committee decided to rework party rules to morph its primary into a caucus and, more importantly, move the event from May to March's so-called Super Tuesday.

Another interesting committee vote was to hold a straw poll, an informal vote of party delegates, the weekend of Jan. 6. The poll will be one of the first indicators of the new year that could propel a GOP candidate's outlook running up to the first caucuses and primaries to be held in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina.
