State GOP Central Committee Votes "No Confidence" in McGee

The Lewiston Tribune reports State Sen. John McGee faced a vote of no confidence this past weekend from the Idaho Republican Central Committee. The motion, approved at a state convention in Moscow, has no legal effect. Another motion, which called for McGee to be censured and expelled from the Central Committee, was indefinitely postponed, killing the resolution.

McGee pleaded guilty to DUI following a June 19 incident in which he admitted to over drinking, taking a stranger's vehicle and crashing the SUV in another stranger's front lawn. In exchange for a DUI conviction, McGee avoided a felony charge and agreed to having his driver's license suspended.

Last week, McGee sidestepped an effort to oust him as chairman of the Canyon County Republican Central Committee. A motion to investigate McGee's actions was tabled and sent to the Central Committee's executive committee, which is chaired by McGee.
