Body of House GOP Caucus Leader's Wife Found in Payette River

Tragedy has cast a shadow on the holiday weekend in McCall, a town usually bursting with fun and optimism each Fourth of July. The body of Mary Jo Roberts, wife of Idaho House Majority Caucus chair Ken Roberts, was found in the Payette River Saturday.

Law enforcement said Roberts loved to walk regularly along the river to collect driftwood. Her body was recovered in a logjam, approximately six miles from her car. Officials said she could have been swept away by fast, cold water.

A veteran of the Idaho Legislature, Roberts is a member of the Health and Welfare, Revenue and Taxation, and Ways and Means committees.
