Figures released today by the FBI revealed that violent crime in Boise dropped by more than 10 percent in 2010, compared to 2009. The Boise drop far surpassed a national decrease of 5.5 percent in reported violent crimes.
The report, compiled from multiple law enforcement agencies, showed decreases in Boise in a number of categories: murder, robbery, assault, burglary and arson. Forcible rape increased by 19 percent and larceny remained approximately the same.
Nationally, murder declined 4.4 percent, while forcible rape dropped 4.2 percent, robbery 9.5 percent, and aggravated assault 3.6 percent - all when compared with 2009 figures. Geographically, the South saw the largest decline in violent crime (7.5 percent).
