The National Weather Service says the Boise River is expected to rise above flood stage throughout Boise and Garden City this afternoon. Extra water being released from the Lucky Peak Reservoir is being blamed.
As of 1 p.m., the Boise River at Glenwood Bridge was listed at 10 feet, the exact flood stage. The river is expected to continue rising until this evening. Large sections of the Greenbelt are expected to be submerged. Erosion of river banks could also become a significant problem. Minor flooding is also being forecast for sections of Eagle Island and other low spots along the river.
