Joint federal, state and local teams are scheduled to fan out across northern Idaho beginning Tuesday, assessing flood damage to Bonner, Boundary, Clearwater, Idaho, Nez Perce and Shoshone counties. Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter has declared a state of emergency in the six counties, following flooding and landslides through the first half of this month.
The outcome of the joint assessment will determine whether the areas meet the threshold for federal disaster funding, which could total $1.6 million. A disaster declaration from the White House would trigger the funds.
