The Fourth of July weekend will have a bit more celebrating this summer as thoroughbred horse racing returns to Les Bois Park. Treasure Valley Racing, which recently won an auctioned lease to operate the Garden City track, has announced that simulcast wagering will return to the park on June 1, and a new season of racing will begin July 2.
TVR, owned by an Idaho group of racehorse owners and the Alabama-based Green Group, will operate a 15-day season with live races every Wednesday and Saturday. In addition, a special Fourth of July (Monday) card is scheduled and a Friday night of races is set for Aug. 12.
Horses and trainers will be allowed to move into Les Bois stalls on May 7, and the track is expected to be ready for training on May 14.
