Idaho Power Asks for Rate Decrease

Idaho's largest utility has filed for a decrease in rates to its customers. Idaho Power, in a filing with the state's Public Utility Commission, is asking to reduce customer rates by more than $40 million, or an average reduction of 4.78 percent beginning June 1.

Before anyone gets overly excited, keep in mind that the request follows two previous proposals to increase rates by 1.74 percent, which would also be effective June 1. If all requests are approved, rates could drop 3 percent overall with a 1.45 percent dip in residential rates.
