Federal law enforcement hauled an Illinois man in front of U.S. District Court in Boise today, charging him with trying to entice an Idaho girl across state lines.
Michael Stewart, 35, of Mahomet, Ill., faces the possibility of life behind bars for texting obscene images and video between last November and this month. Stewart is also alleged to have made travel arrangements for the 15-year-old to join him. He was busted on March 3 at the Indianapolis, Ind., airport, while waiting for the girl to de-plane.
Attempted enticement could result in a sentence of 10 years to life in prison. Attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor is punishable by up to 10 years behind bars. The case was put together by the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the U.S. Postal Service, Boise Police and the U.S. Attorney Offices of Idaho, Illinois and Indiana.
