Idaho's jobless rate is still stuck at 9.7 percent.
The Idaho Department of Labor reported this afternoon than more than 74,000 Idahoans are still jobless. However that number is actually expected to be much higher since many have given up their job searches since the recession settled in nearly three years ago.
Idaho's statistics ran counter to the the U.S. unemployment rate at 8.9 percent. It's estimated that Idaho's workforce totals more than 680,000.
Beginning in April, the state labor department will begin releasing its jobless numbers on the second Friday of the month, instead of the first, ending Idaho's distinction as the only state to publish employment statistics the same day the federal numbers are published.
