Weather Service: Rivers Running High, Expected to Run Higher

The Boise office of the National Weather Service has published its seasonal volume forecasts for Idaho rivers and tributaries—there's good news and bad news:

The good news for farmers and irrigators is that the rivers are expected to be at or above 30-year averages. However, that's bad news for anyone living near the rivers. Here's a few examples:

Big Wood River: 102 percent
Boise River: 103 percent
Snake River: 93-117 percent
Willow Creek: 119 percent

Making matters more interesting is a 60-day forecast indicating higher levels of precipitation and plunging temperatures. In this week's BW, we visit one community which could be ground-zero come flood season.
