City Council to Consider Study for New Field of Dreams

Tucked into tonight's agenda of the Boise City Council (under miscellaneous business) is a request to consider a "market study and initial recommendations" for a possible baseball/multipurpose venue.

Mayor Dave Bieter is asking the council to approve $24,500 for the study, which is expected to take two to three months.

"The study will not delve into locations or ownership," communications director Adam Park told Citydesk. "A new facility could be located in a number of spots in the city limits."

Park did mention the city's 30th Street neighborhood, currently the subject of a new master plan, including a new whitewater park and a major roundabout.

Park said a new facility could serve as a new home for the Boise Hawks minor league baseball team, as well as high school athletics and music concerts.
