The chasm between those with and those without a job continues to grow. Friday, the U.S. Labor Department reported the jobless rate in November hit a seven-month high, with an unemployment rate of 9.8 percent.
Nationwide, more than 15 million people remained out of work last month, and 6.3 million of them have been unemployed for six months or longer.
Meanwhile, Congress continues to duke it out over a push to extend unemployment benefits. A White House report on Dec. 2, estimated 25,622 Idahoans are at risk of losing benefits, and that in turn, could cost Idaho 2,260 jobs by the end of 2011.
