Lt. Gov. Brad Little is a Clint Eastwood fan. When addressing attendees at the 64th annual taxpayers conference at the Boise Centre today, he immediately referenced "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly."
"The good is that Idaho is poised to attract new businesses when things rebound," Little optimized. "We don't have a taste for increasing taxes. We don't like debt, and we always want to know where the debt it."
"The bad is that in 2011 we're really going to have to look at Health and Welfare and Medicaid for cuts," said Little. "I was around in the 1980s when we made wholesale cuts to substance abuse programs and corrections, and we really paid for that down the road."
The ugly included a bad joke from Little.
"While I applaud President Obama's freeze of federal salaries, it's akin to going to a terminally ill person and telling them that they should have a glass of orange juice."
His advice for the 2011 legislature: "I think prayer is probably a pretty good idea."
