Elmore County Sheriff Has His Son Busted

A Mountain Home man is behind bars. His father put him there.

Elmore County Sheriff Rick Layher contacted Idaho State Police when he discovered drug paraphernalia at his Mountain Home address. He gave the OK for ISP and his own officers to conduct a formal search of his home. In the wake of the investigation, Layher's 27-year-old son, John Layher, was charged with felony drug possession of methamphetamine.

The senior Layher said the arrest of his son was "the hardest decision he ever made in his enforcement career, and as a parent."
