ITD Issues Permit for Conoco Megaloads

The wheels are moving. Not the wheels below the megaloads at the Port of Lewiston, but the figurative wheels of a process that could see them rolling.

Late Wednesday, the Idaho Transportation Dept. issued permits allowing ConocoPhillips to move four massive coke drums from the port along U.S. Highway 12 and then on to the Montana Border at Lolo Pass.

However, opponents said they have been assured that they will have an opportunity to participate in an "administrative appeal process." Simply put, they'll get a chance to state their case before an administrative judge, appointed by the ITD.

Merlyn Clark, a member of the Boise law firm Hawley Troxell Ennis & Hawley will preside. No word on when or where the hearing will be held.
