Rallying for Sanity From Sea to Shining Boise

by

Saturday Oct. 30, tens of thousands of people flocked from across America to the national mall to attend the Rally to Restore Sanity, put on by Jon Stewart, host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central.

Though at least one Boisean, Kathy Ellis, traveled to D.C. for the rally—and was interviewed by U.S.A. Today, while there—most find themselves as part of what Jon Stewart has called "the busy majority."

But approximately 500 Boiseans gathered at City Hall for an independently organized Rally to Restore Sanity here in Boise to show solidarity with Stewart's rally and express their frustration with the contemporary tone of political dialog.

Speakers included Whitney Rearick and Cindy Gross of the Boise Coffee Party, City Councilman Vern Bisterfeldt and President of the Boise State Student Senate Mark Gehrke, as well as a musical performance by guitarist Dan Costello.
