More Wild Horses Killed in Latest Roundup at Border

Nearly three dozen wild horses died or were euthanized during the latest roundup on rangeland at the Idaho-Nevada border.

The Bureau of Land Management collected more than 1,200 wild horses in the latest roundup which concluded earlier this week in northern Elko County, Nev.

The BLM reports its ongoing horse and burro roundups as emergency rescues in the wake of drought and overpopulation on public lands.

Opponents characterize the roundups as an excuse to make room for livestock grazing and energy interests.
