Obama Signs Idaho Disaster Declaration

You may remember in early June when high winds, heavy rains and floods swept through Central and Western Idaho.

Today (Tuesday), President Barack Obama declared a major disaster exists in the wake of the Idaho storms. Obama ordered federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts in Adams, Gem, Idaho, Lewis, Payette, Valley and Washington counties.

Earlier this month, four teams for the Federal Emergency Management Agency fanned out to conduct concurrent investigations in the effected counties. At the time, it was estimated that up to $2 million in federal disaster assistance could be forthcoming.
