Two years ago, Canyon County commissioners voted to allow Sunday sales of liquor by the bottle at state-run stores, but bars and restaurants in Caldwell were restricted by city ordinance to selling only beer and wine. Bar and restaurant owners complained that their customers would take their Sunday business to surrounding communities. Public workshops and hearings were held on the issue, with no one speaking out against the change. Nampa bars and restaurants began serving spirits and mixed drinks on Sundays in January.
