Canadian Firm Hopes For Idaho Windfall in Purchase Agreement


Atlantic Power Corporation, an independent power producer headquartered in Toronto, Onterio, Canada, announced on Friday, July 2. that it is purchasing a 27 percent ownership interest in Idaho Wind Partners for $40 million.

IWP is currently constructing 11 separate wind farms near Twin Falls, which are expected to total 183 megawatts. IWP is a partnership among Exergy Development (the original developer), GE Financial Services and Reunion Power. It has a 20-year power purchase agreement with Idaho Power under which all electricity produced by the wind farms will be sold at fixed prices. The projects are expected to complete construction by the end of the year.
