Dept. of Ed Seeks to Limit Federal For-Profit Aid

by

In April, Boise Weekly reported on the profit margins Idaho's for-profit higher education schools are making while state institutions are feeling the pinch of budget cuts. In that story, Boise State President Bob Kustra expressed his misgivings about for-profit schools' eligibility for federal money, telling BW: "When you take that Pell Grant and give it to a private company, that troubles me a bit."

An NPR story today reported that the U.S. Department of Education is releasing new restrictions that would ban for-profit schools from federal aid if its graduates default on federal loans.
