Boise Council to Consider New Bike Laws

The Boise City Council will consider a local three-feet-to-pass law for bikers at its Tuesday meeting, along with several other ordinances recommended by a summer bike task force.

In addition to a three-feet-to-pass law, under which drivers must give cyclists a 3 foot buffer before passing, the city is considering a biker anti-harassment law, a reckless cycling rule, beefed up sidewalk regs and reminders that cars yield to bikes on left and right turns.

The city is also working on several bike and auto education and infrastructure initiatives.

The full agenda is not yet available, but you can read the report here and testify on the rules Tuesday night, starting at 6 p.m. in the third floor council chambers at City Hall.
