Boise Blogger and City Hall critic David Frazier is holding a meeting tonight to debate the Boise Fire Department's efforts to establish a new ambulance service. The meeting is tonight, at 7 p.m. at the downtown Library! (sorry for the late notice).
Firefighters are boycotting the meeting, according to an e-mail sent earlier today.
“The host for this event has already taken a stand on the issue and therefore cannot serve as an impartial moderator in this debate,” said Greg Womack, President of Boise Firefighters Local 149. “Boise Fire is committed to ensuring the highest quality emergency medical services to all Boise residents and looks forward to working with all involved parties to achieve that goal.”
Frazier wrote about the Fire and EMS issue on Aug. 3 (almost three months after BW broke the story ;-)
The sad part of all this is that there doesn’t appear to be any “NEED” for additional transport. Boise FDE has been hiring paramedics to staff some fire engines which no one argues about. The GUARDIAN has no problem with having advanced training for those who respond to medical emergencies. —David Frazier
