The City of Boise's Parks and Recreation Department is hoping to move forward with its request to raise fees at Zoo Boise, which could boost revenues by more than $360,000. According to a memo to the Boise City Council From Zoo Boise Superintendent Steve Burns, "Zoo Boise was well within the tolerance for increasing admission," according to a pricing study performed in the fall of 2012.

While increasing fees in a number of categories, Zoo Boise is recommending decreasing the free admission for children under the age of 4 to children under the age of 3.

Included in the new proposed fee structure:

Admission for ages 3-11: $6.50 (a new fee)
Admission for ages 12-61: $9.50 (a 46 percent increase)
Admision for ages 62 and older: $7.50 (a 62 percent increase)
Admission for family day passes with children ages 3-11: $5.50 (a new fee)
Admission for family day passes with children ages 12 and older: $6.75 (a 80 pecent increase)

The City will need to publish the proposed fees and open the proposal to a public hearing before taking final action on the new fee structure.
