War in Iraq: January 3, 2007


U.S. CASUALTIES: As of Tuesday, January 2, 2,983 U.S. service members (including 16 Idahoans) have died since the war in Iraq began in March 2003: 2,397 in combat and 586 from non-combat related incidents and accidents. Injured service members total 12,458.

Since President George W. Bush declared "mission accomplished" aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln on May 1, 2003, 2,837 soldiers have died.
